Charlotte Tilbury began her career as an assistant to make-up artist Mary Greenwell. The now famous Tilbury now has an international following of her own thanks to her YouTube channel, as well as her own make-up line.
Tilbury has been a fixture in the beauty industry for more than 20 years and says though she enjoys making others look their best, she also has also always been determined to do the same for herself. She says her interest in beauty began at a young age but when she discovered mascara at the age of 13 – there was no looking back.
She says she grew up in a creative family so it was only natural that she ended up in a creative career. After meeting makeup artist Mary Greenwell she made the decision to train at the Glauca Rossi School of Makeup in London. There she says she learned the necessary tricks and skills that she still uses today on some of the most famous celebrities in the world.
Her career took off in the 1990’s during the supermodel era and she has worked with fashion and beauty experts as well as celebrities from all over the world. Her long list of famous clients includes names such as Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Moss, Rihanna, Stella McCartney, Donna Karan and Tom Ford.
Tilbury has also worked as a creative consultant with various beauty brands before marketing her own line of makeup. ” I’m thrilled to now be pouring all of my secrets and passion into my own range,” she says of her successful new line.
With all of the success she has had in the makeup industry, who is the one person she wishes she could work with? The Queen of England! She says she knows her products “could make her skin look more radiant.”
It’s probably only a matter of time till the Queen is using her products, as Tilbury has transformed herself into one of the most famous and notable makeup artists of our time.
